Vincent Maine, age 94, of rural Amboy, passed away at his home on January 6, 2018. Visitation will be Tuesday January 9, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago. Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 10 AM at Winnebago First Baptist Church, interment will follow in Basey Cemetery, rural Winnebago. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.SpencerOwen.comVince was born to Glen and Gertrude (Hemingway) Maine in rural Amboy on April 4, 1923. He grew up on the farm and continued to farm his entire life. He went to country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Winnebago High school in 1942. Vince married Dorothy Cordes on August 14, 1949 and they were blessed with 62 years of marriage. They raised 3 children on their farm and were active members of the Basey Church until it closed in 2009. Vince was a current member of the First Baptist Church in Winnebago and loved his church family. Vince enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, purple martins, weather, making and sharing home-made ice cream, whistling, going on cruises with Dorothy, spending time with his family and friends and visiting with everyone. Vince is survived by his children, Karen (Bruce) Stanton of Mapleton, Doug Maine of Amboy and Kathy (Chuck) Dressen of Winnebago; 5 grandchildren, Liz (Ryan) Bair, Anne (Cody) Voges, Tyler Dressen, Kelsey (Lee) Hodges and Rebecca (Tyler Dreyer) Stanton; 10 great grandchildren, Alec, Carter, Annalivia and Brody Bair, Avery, Ella and Addison Voges, Paxton and Bowen Hodges and Olivia Dreyer; sisters-in-law, Norma Cole and Blanche Maine; brother-in-law Bob (Ruth) Cordes. Preceded in death by his parents, Wife Dorothy in 2011; siblings, Ronald, Wendell and Harriet (Kraywinkel). A special thank you to the UHD Hospice for helping Vince stay in his home for the last 5 weeks.
