Ronald Boeck, age 95, of Amboy, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at Mapleton Community Home. Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Amboy. Funeral services will be 2:00pm at the church, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery rural Amboy. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com Ron was born August 8, 1922 in Shelby Township, the son of Erwin and Ella (Ulrich) Boeck. He served during World War II in the 325th Glider Infantry, 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne Division. He fought overseas in France and Austria earning EAME Service Medal with 2 bronze service stars, Good Conduct Medal, World War 2 Victory Medal and Occupation Ribbon (Germany). He also received his sharpshooter rifleman and pilot wings. Ron and Betty were married October 7, 1951. They raised their 2 daughters on a hobby farm SW of Amboy and Ron worked as a field rep for Northrup King/Syngenta. One of his favorite memories was detasseling corn with the crews in the summer. Ron enjoyed gardening and anytime he had extra sweetcorn, asparagus or tomatoes, he would give it out to family and friends. After his retirement in 1984 Ron was able to spend time with his grandchildren. He spent many hours taking them to the park and pool. Ron is survived by his daughters, Cindy Davis of Mankato, Patty (Bart) Smith of Amboy, sisters, Lucille Sorenson of Mapleton, Gladys Wolters of Belmond, IA, 6 grandchildren Heather Stevermer, Ryan (Holly) Stevermer, Nathan (Kaycee) Smith, Hilary Davis, Brandon (fiancé Ashley Wagner) Smith, Samantha (Ethan) Holmseth, 3 great-grandchildren, Ryder Stevermer, Scarlett Smith, and Violette Smith Ron was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents, 2 brothers, and one sister.
