Lavonne “Bonnie” Shouts passed away on July 5, 2023 at Mayo Health Systems in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church in Amboy with Rev. Carl Larson officiating. A time for visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Tuesday at Spencer Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery, Amboy.
Bonnie was born on May 5, 1934 to Edward and Bertha (Hacker) Dobberstein, on the farm in rural Redwood County. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1952. On March 14, 1954, Bonnie married the love of her life, Stanley Shouts in Redwood Falls. In 1955, the couple moved to the Shouts Century Farm, where Bonnie lived until her passing. Together, Bonnie and Stanley raised their four children, and eventually bought a welding shop in 1967. Bonnie did the bookkeeping work at the shop, and also spent some time waitressing at Norman’s Café and at Larson’s Highway Service.
Bonnie enjoyed gardening, church activities, and travel. She was a member of Amboy First Presbyterian Church. Bonnie was also a MN Twins fan and an excellent cook – especially known for her potato salad. Most of all, Bonnie loved her family. She was a big supporter of her grandkids and loved to be involved in all of their activities.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Scott (Pam) of Amboy, and Randy (Becky) of Mankato; two daughters, Julie (Richard) Fitzsimmons of Good Thunder and Kathy (Scott) Lyon of Blue Earth; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Melva (Tom) Panitzke of Crosby.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Stanley in 1999.
