It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathryn Ann Kuhns, who left this world peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on November 6, 1950, in Winnebago, MN, to John and Jean (McCormick) Staloch, Kathryn was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Growing up in rural Winnebago with seven siblings, Kathryn embraced the values of family and faith from an early age. After graduating high school in 1970, she spent some time in New Ulm and even ventured to California to care for her beloved aunt. Throughout her life, she worked as a cook in various restaurants and nursing homes, where her exceptional culinary skills and the aroma of her famous spaghetti warmed the hearts of many.
Kathryn was known for her profound compassion and caring nature. Family was always her top priority, and she found great joy in spending time with loved ones. A true prayer warrior, her unwavering faith provided her with strength and comfort throughout the ups and downs of her life.
Many will remember Kathryn for her spirited personality. She had a sassy side and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, but she always followed up with kindness and an apology when needed. Often seen in her trusty blue jeans, she was never without a coffee or a Pepsi in hand, ready to face the day with her signature “fire power.” Her love for country western music, playing cards, and simply chatting on the phone brought joy to her everyday moments. She also cherished the simpler pleasures of life, such as going for drives and enjoying a meal out.
Kathryn was a remarkable gift giver, always ensuring her presents were personal and meaningful to each recipient, a reflection of her thoughtful nature.
Kathryn is survived by her children; Bridget (Tim) Erickson of Staples, MN and son Chad Kuhns of Brainerd, grandchildren; Jorie, Dominic, Jocelyn, Conner, Rylan and Brekken, her siblings; Mike Staloch, Margie Hanenberger, Mary Barker and Patty (Jason) Gullord, as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Teresa Walters, Pete Staloch and Bob Staloch.
Kathy’s family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Parker Oaks, UHD Hospice and special thank you to Dr. Webster and Dr. Johnson; your warmth and compassion will never be forgotten.
