Janice Jessie Stevens, 81, of Amboy went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2020, at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Mesa, AZ.

Janice was born December 25, 1938, to Jesse and Irene (Olson) Poole in Winnebago, MN and graduated from Huntley High School in 1957.

She married her sweetheart, Larry Stevens of Amboy on August 8, 1958. Janice enjoyed many years of being a homemaker and raising their four children, on the farm. Larry and Janice also spent numerous winters in Arizona.

She had a love for the Lord and a heart for all his people and wanted everyone to know him. Janice spent many hours in prayer and studying God’s word. Following the Holy Spirit’s lead, Janice listened and spoke to many people helping and encouraging them in their walk and relationship with the Lord. She dedicated her life to mission work and participated in multiple prayer groups. Many lives have been blessed by knowing her.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories are her husband, Larry Stevens: children (spouse), Teresa (Richard) Polzin, Susan (Don) Grover, Gretchen (Wayne) Wendt, and Greg (Sandra) Stevens all of Amboy; grandchildren, Melissa (Sam) Phelps, Michael Wilder, Thomas (Christine) Smith, Jenna (Luke) Beck, Sarah Smith, Ciara (Luke) Buckholtz, Marshall Brunz, and Gavin Stevens; great-grandchildren, Walter and Arthur Beck, Evangeline Smith; sister, Carol (Duane) Kvittem; Sisters-in-law, Judy Poole, Florence (Don) Wishman, Barbra (John) Toay, Marilyn Stevens and numerous step-children and grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her father and mother, Jesse and Irene Poole; brother, Melvin Poole; father and mother-in-law Steve and Dora Stevens; and brother-in-law Jim Stevens.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
