Jane Olive Poole

February 14, 1936 — December 20, 2020

Jane Olive (Nilson) Poole, age 84, of Winnebago died December 20, 2020.  She, and twin brother Gene, were born February 14, 1936 in Fairmont, MN to Henry and Pearl (Nichols) Nilson.  She graduated from Huntley HS in 1954.  After completing nurses training at Immanuel St. Joseph in Mankato in 1955, she began working at the Winnebago Hospital.    She completed her 40 year career at the Winnebago and Mapleton clinics.

Jane married Jerry Poole on October 22, 1955.  Apart from a brief time in Texas while Jerry served in the Air Force, Winnebago was their home.  They were happily married almost 61 years, until his death in 2016. 

She greatly enjoyed volunteering at First Baptist church as choir director and sewing for missions, the Red Cross blood mobiles (donating 100 times), the Food Shelf, Meals on Wheels, Winnebago Museum, and Winnebago Area Musical Players.  Longtime member First Baptist church, Verona club, Redwing Pottery Collector's club, and Studebaker Driver's club.  She spent many hours quilting beautiful gifts, baking, camping, reading, and watching the Twins.  She will be remembered as a sweet, loving, and generous person.

Survivors include: children Kevin (Kim) Poole of Winnebago, Ranae (Steven) Schutt of Winnebago, Michael (Elaine) Poole of Shakopee, and Susan (Dale) Folen of Golden Valley. 10 grandkids Jeremy (Diane), Desiree (fiancé Scott), Sierrah (Daniel), Jeremiah (Heidi), Amanda (Thomas), Michelle (Eric), Phillip, Ben (Alexis), Rita, and Kirk. 10 precious great-grandchildren.  In-laws MaryEllen Nilson, Ron and Etta Poole.  Many nieces and nephew.

Jane was proceeded in death by: parents, husband Jerry, parents-in-law Marjorie and Roger Poole, siblings Dorothy (Don) Swanson, Charles (Cheryl) Nilson, and Gene Nilson, niece Karen Swanson, dog Cindy, and many special friends.

Due to COVID restrictions, no visitation. Private, family only, funeral Monday, December 28, 2020 at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church (Foundations Bible Church).  The family requests masks and social distancing.  Memorials preferred to Riverside Cemetery, United Hospital District Hospice, or the church. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at both Heartland Senior Living-Parker Oaks, and UHD Hospice.
