Ellen Louise (Larson) Tipler, age 89, of Amboy, MN, died Friday, June 14, at 3:15 am at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Mankato, MN from complications of a heart attack. A memorial service will be held 1PM Wednesday June 19, 2024 at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Amboy. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Ellen was born December 22,1934 at the Winnebago, MN Hospital to Herbert and Wylma (Marienau) Larson of Sterling Township, MN.
Ellen was baptized on January 27, 1935, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran parsonage and confirmed on March 21, 1948. She continued as a member of St. Paul’s throughout her life, teaching Sunday School as a young married mother.
In 1952 she graduated from Amboy High School and went on to study at Mankato Community College. After earning a degree in accounting, she worked for the next 42 years at Blue Earth County Service that later became Coop and Farmland Industries. After retirement, she went back to work for Robert FitzSimmons and Sons and Doyle Electric.
Ellen married her high school sweetheart Roger Tipler on June 19, 1955, in a small wedding, with four children born in the first five years of marriage. She was known for her cooking, hospitality, and ability to grow anything. She loved flowers, painting, dancing, roses, Dean Martin, and big band music. She loved a good story and coffee, and the Lord. She was the eternal optimist.
Ellen is survived by her husband Roger, her children Renee (Guy) Doyle, Gina (Paul) FitzSimmons, Gretchen (Bill) FitzSimmons, and Michael (Dorothy) Tipler, her grandchildren Jesse (Stephanie) Doyle, Leah (Landon) Davis, Danielle (Mike) Hellekson, Racquel (Jake) Walters, Devin (Adam) Thorson, Laura (Kyle) Medvec, Elizabeth (Dylan) Greiner, Garret (Kayla Kermode) FitzSimmons, Emily (Isaac) Tapp, and her 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Donnis (James) Larson, and Beverly (John) Larson, Carol Tipler and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Wylma, and her brothers James and John.
