Doris A. Conrad age 91 of Vernon Center passed away Thursday July 22, 2021 at the Mapleton Community Home. A graveside service at Vernon Center Cemetery will be held Monday July 26 at 1pm with Rev. Matthew Russert officiating. Online condolences can be left at www.spencerowen.com
Doris was born May 10, 1930 to Art and Lillie (Riewe) Urban in Amboy. She was one of two children. She attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran where she was also baptized, confirmed, and married. She graduated from Amboy High School and then went on to take a short course in business machines at Mankato Commercial College. She worked at Thompson Yards in Mankato until moving to the twin cities where she worked for NSP Co. and held different positions with them over the years. She married Veril Conrad on June 20, 1964 and moved back to Vernon Center and helped him run his trucking business.
She enjoyed decorating cakes and painting pictures as well as some traveling. Her and Veril attended the Blue Earth County fair for many years entering in the gardening, flowers, painting and canning divisions of the open class. She was very involved in the Vernon Center community, a member of the Lions Club and active at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Doris was a very gracious woman and always willing to give to others.
She is survived by her nieces, nieces, Janie (Dean) Lee, Bonnie Burrow, Carol (Bob) Sonnabend, Marilyn Northhammer, Linda (Lee) Hiller, and Jan (John) Fitzsimmons; nephews, Bob (Ruth) Conrad, and Dennis (Mary) Conrad.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband Veril, her parents and her brother Wilton and his wife Mildred.
