Delores Elaine (Behlmer) Schutt, age 87, passed away on Mother’s Day - Sunday, May 14th, 2023 at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, MN. Delores was born April 15th, 1936 in St. James, MN, the third daughter of Fred and Minnie Behlmer. She was raised and attended St. James Parochial School. Delores married Duane Howard Schutt on May 24th, 1953 in St. James, MN. Delores’ life revolved around music. Delores taught piano, organ, and vocal lessons in the area for 45 years. She played for church services, funerals, weddings, and special events. Delores started, directed, and accompanied the Praise Singers Choir group at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago. She even played and sang on the radio with her two sisters at very young ages. Family was very important to Delores. She loved having all the family come over for Sunday dinner after church or any and every occasion just to get everyone together. She always made an abundance of food (enough to feed the whole neighborhood)! When Delores wasn't singing, playing, or teaching music, she enjoyed fishing in northern MN, gardening, playing cards, antique shops, and having coffee with friends. Delores was a long-time member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago where she was very active in the music department.
Visitation will be held at Spencer-Owen Funeral home on Monday May 22nd, 2023 from 5-7pm. A Funeral Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday May 23rd, 2023 at 10:30am at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago, MN with Rev. Mark Biebighauser officiating. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in rural Winnebago.
Delores is survived by her husband, Duane Schutt of Winnebago for just 10 days short of 70 years (May 24th); Sons Steven (Ranae) Schutt of Winnebago, Kim (Shelly) Schutt of Trenton, MI, Joel (Roxanne) Schutt of Winnebago, special friend Bert Howard of Winnebago, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Minnie Behlmer; sisters Betty Klaus and Arlene Mortenson, and many other extended family members. In Lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior music department or donor's choice. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home is entrusted in assisting the family with arrangements.
