Bob Sturtz, 71, of Winnebago, Minnesota, passed away on April 19, 2024. He was born on April 11, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Bob had a fulfilling career, starting as a Rural Letter Carrier in 1980. In 1981, he began working with the Postal Union as a Local Steward and later served on the Minnesota State Union Board as vice president and president. Bob was actively involved in various national committees for the Rural Letter Carriers Association and was recognized for his dedication with the “Outstanding Member” and “Member of the Year” awards in 2007. He retired in 2020 after many years of service and driving over 1 million miles accident-free.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, camping, hunting, stargazing, and swimming. Bob also loved watching sporting events of his children and grandchildren, woodworking, sci-fi, Halloween, coaching summer baseball, and helping develop the Arrowhead Archery Club and Winnebago Wrestling Club. He loved spending quality time with family and friends, engaging in conversations, and playing cards. Bob had a special bond with his children and grandchildren and cherished the moments spent with them.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jane Sturtz; his children Thad (Jessi), Janessa (Ben), Ty (Lauren), and Gabe (Autumn); his grandchildren Carson, Reed, Nolan, Adley, Elsie, Gordon, Alden, Eleanor, and Ezra; his three brothers Bill (Fancha), Dean (Kristi), and DeWayne; brother-in-laws Jim (Becky) and Jared (Jeri); and sister-in-laws Jackie and Julie (Dave), along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, James; sister, Diane; mother-in-law, Elsie; father-in-law, Lloyd; and brother-in-law, Jeff.
A visitation will be held at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, MN on Sunday, April 28 from 1:00-3:00 pm. To honor and celebrate Bob’s life, a private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
