Betty Maine

Betty Maine, age 87, formally of Amboy, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022, at Oak Terrace in North Mankato, with her husband of 70 years by her side. Private family services and inurnment will take place at a later date at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.

Betty Jean Yore was born June 6, 1935 in Winnebago, Minnesota, the daughter of John O. Yore and Ruby Bruce. Raised by her Mother’s twin sister Ruth Stoddard, Betty grew up and attended school in Winnebago. On September 18, 1952 she married Dale Maine in Mason City, Iowa. Their early marriage was spent at rural Pequot Lakes and Keewatin, before returning to rural Winnebago where they lived on a farm just west of the Basey Church and raised their family of four. After 29 years, they moved into Amboy where they made their home until 2019 when they settled into Oak Terrace.

A talented homemaker, Betty was a prolific cook, baker, decorator and entertainer. An avid reader and writer, she always had a book going and a stack of magazines by her side. Above all else she treasured spending time with her husband and family.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Dale Maine of Oak Terrace- North Mankato. Two daughters: Judith (Myron) Weerts of Clarkdale, AZ and Norma Jean Peymann of Alexandria, MN. Two sons: Michael Maine of Winnebago and David (Terri) Maine of Madison Lake. 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Weerts of Winnebago, Christopher (Sara) Weerts of Clarkdale, AZ, Kala (Ryan) Hjelle of Alexandria, MN, Benjamin (Laura) Peymann of Abilene, TX, Tara (Jason) Lobitz of North Mankato, Jocelin (Tammy) Maine of Madison Lake, Jeremiah Maine of Madison Lake, and Samantha Maine of Lewisville. 12 great-grandchildren: Jordan Weerts, Lily, Eva and Griffin Hjelle, Owen, Grace and Ella Peymann, Adrianna, Melina, Adam and Sophia Lobitz, and David Reynolds. Her half-sister Audrey Skinner of Lucerne, CA. Brother in-law Horton (Jackie) Maine of Crosslake, MN. 4 sister in-laws: Marian Maine of Pequot Lakes, Adelia Maine of Fridley, Ruth Maine of Pequot Lakes and Carol Hines of Ellsworth, WI. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was proceeded in death by: Father John Yore, Mother Ruby (Bruce) King, Aunt Ruth (Bruce) Stoddard, Brother Don Yore King, 2 sisters: Helen (Pat) Kleine and Hank (Bill) Nations, 3 brothers in infancy. Father & Mother in-law Hiram & Laura Maine. 4 brother in-laws: Westal Maine, Boyd Maine, Albert Maine and Bill Hines.

The family would like to express great appreciation and gratitude to Oak Terrace and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care extended to Betty and her family.
