Bernice Minnie Tallman, age 87, of Amboy, MN, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Mapleton Community Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, October 14 at the United Methodist Church of Amboy, MN, with Rev. Durene Cornell presiding and a visitation one hour prior to the service. Bernice was born on February 8, 1930 in Sioux Valley, MN, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Reimers) Siemers. She was raised on the family farm until moving to her sister Rosie’s farm near Windom, MN. Bernice attended Mankato Beauty School at John’s request. On June 30, 1948, Bernice married John Tallman in Lakefield, MN. Bernice and John operated a beauty shop in Jackson, MN before moving to Amboy in January of 1951. In May of 1951, her son, Tom, was born. They operated the Amboy Beauty Shop for 30 plus years. Bernice retired from the shop and became a secretary for Boesch Insurance Agency. Upon retiring for the second time, she spent her days taking care of John, her church, gardens, 4 granddaughters, and pets. Bernice was a member of the Minnesota Hairdressers Association and longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Amboy. She was also a member of the Amboy Community Club and lifelong member of the Midnight Mother’s Club. Bernice enjoyed many types of craft; especially weaving rugs from old blue jeans on her loom. Bernice is survived by her son, Tom (Joan) Tallman of Amboy, MN; sister, Gloria Johnson of Clarkfield, MN; granddaughters, Lori (Jeremy) Caye of Lindstrom, MN, Abby Tallman of Minneapolis, MN, Stacy (Collin) Strobush of Altoona, WI, and Bethany (Aaron) Humrickhouse of Richfield, MN; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Vivien Caye; and many loving nieces and nephews. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers.
