BeeDee Starkweather

January 7, 1942 — December 20, 2024

Mapleton

Beatrice “BeeDee” Marie Starkweather was born on January 7, 1942, and left this earth on December 20, 2024 to be reunited with her husband and other family members that passed before her.

A funeral service will be held at 1pm Saturday January 4, 2025 at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church in Amboy with Rev. John Mapa officiating. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm at the church and burial will be at Jackson Lake Cemetery. Online condolences can be left and a livestream of the service can be viewed at www.spencerowen.com

BeeDee grew up in Truman, MN and graduated from Truman high school. She met Duane Starkweather a couple of years later and married on December 3, 1962. Together they raised their two children, Todd and Susan.

When BeeDee married Duane, she became a farmer’s wife and worked beside her husband all of their years together. In the early 1970’s, she and Duane started their reupholstery business which they did for many years. In the mid to late 1980’s BeeDee started working at the hardware store in Amboy. Anyone who came into the hardware store knew they would find whatever part or item they needed. She always had a smile on her face and was happy to help everyone. It was a sad day when she retired in 2014.

BeeDee was very excited when she found out she was going to be a grandma. Her granddaughter Quinn was a very special part of her life. She was also very happy when Quinn and Sean got married because she got her grandson.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Todd Starkweather of Amboy and Susan (Bill) Potz of Vernon Center. Granddaughter, Quinn (Sean) Busse of Amboy and 2 great-grandchildren, Elliana and Adam. Her sisters, Marcia Lloyd and Alice Raddatz, brother Terry (Tammy) Widmann, sisters-in-law Kathy Widmann, Glenda Starkweather and Lael Starkweather, brothers-in-law Donald Starkweather and Douglas Starkweather as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She is preceded on death by her parents, husband Duane, sister Kaye Widmann, brother Ronald Widmann, brothers-in-law James Lloyd, Gary Raddatz, Dennis Starkweather and sister-in-law Joan Starkweather.

BeeDee’s family would like to thank the Mapleton Community Home for the loving care they gave to BeeDee.
