Violet A. Libby, age 86, of Delavan, died on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital, Mankato. Funeral Services will be held on, Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 4:30PM at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago, with Chaplin Marlene Buker officiating. Violet Libby was born on July 23, 1924 at Anoka County the daughter of Roy and Anna (Anderson) Dawley. Violet was raised and educated in Garden City and Good Thunder. After school Violet worked at Kresge’s Dime Store in Mankato for many years, where she was in charge of the toy department. Violet moved to Pennsylvania where she married Bill Libby in 1967. While in Pennsylvania Violet owned and operated Vi’s Café, many customers would come from miles to taste Violet’s famous pies. She returned to Minnesota in the late 1970’s where she helped take care of her ailing mother in Delavan. Violet enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and looked forward to school and summer vacations when they often came to visit. Violet also enjoyed doing Jig-Saw puzzles and playing cards on Wednesdays at the Community Center in Delavan.
Violet is survived by her sister, Onalie Ikier of Vernon Center; brother, Bob Dawley of Bow, Washington; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers, two sisters and special friend, Sam Lent.
