Winnebago February 5, 2010 Leonard C. Velta Leonard Velta, age 82, of Winnebago, died Friday, February 05, 2010, at the United Hospital in Blue Earth. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Delavan United Methodist Church, Delavan, with Rev. Victoria Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Bass Lake Cemetery, rural Winnebago. Visitation will be at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago on Monday, February 8, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. www.spencerowen.com Leonard was born July 1, 1927, in Delavan Township the son of Herbert and Edna (Snare) Velta. He was raised and educated in the Delavan area attending country school and graduating from Delavan High School in 1945. Leonard served in WWII from 1945-1947. On September 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Violet Soley in Mankato. The two moved to the Bass Lake area where they farmed and raised their three children. Leonard and Violet enjoyed wintering in Texas for many years. Leonard also enjoyed camping, being in the outdoors and square dancing. Leonard is survived by his wife, Violet Velta of rural Winnebago; son, Bruce (Tammy) Velta of St. Peter and their children, Chad (Tracy) Velta, Abby Swanson and Eliza Lynard; daughter, Carol (Rick) Nase of Amboy and their children, Matthew (Alisa) Nase, Jeremy, Stephanie and Brittany Nase; daughter, Peggy (Dale) Forsythe of Wyoming, MN and their children, Hannah and Cullen Forsythe. Leonard is also survived by 3 great grandchildren; Drew Swanson, Olivia and Nolan Nase. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents.
