Mark Douglas Petersen, age 51, of Mankato, formerly of Winnebago died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at his residence in Mankato. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, at 11:00 AM at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, with Father Mark McNea officiating. Mark was born June 11, 1958, at Winnebago, the son of Orville and Dorthy (Emery) Petersen. Mark was raised and educated in Winnebago, attending Winnebago High School. Mark served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force for several years before returning home and working as a Carpenter and Electrician. Mark was musically talented and enjoyed playing the guitar. Mark had a gift to gab and loved to play jokes. He also had a love for the outdoors and was an active member of AA.
Mark is survived by his significant other, Rhonda Hoffmann and her daughter Stephanie both of Mankato; brother, James O. Petersen of Albert Lea; sisters, Lucille Edwards of St. Paul; Marsha (Rodney) Anderson of Blue Earth; Janet (Edward) Patterson of Delavan; Susan Diaz of Eagle Lake; Mary Mealman of Esterville Iowa; Carol (Samuel) Armstrong of Mankato; sister-in-laws Hazel Petersen and Peggy Stimpert; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, Gary, William, Sheldon and Barry Petersen and 2 sisters Diana Lawerence and Shelia Petersen
