Trellis Robenia Malherek, age 92, of Winnebago, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Parker Oaks Nursing Home in Winnebago. A Memorial Services will be held on October 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago with Rev. Ronald Jobe officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, rural Winnebago. Visitation will be on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago. Trellis was born on January 15, 1917 at Winnebago, to Carroll and Edna (Mitchell) Franklin. She attended Maple Grove Country School until 8th grade and then attended Winnebago High School. After graduating from Winnebago High School in 1934, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Cooper and a checkout at Stimons’s Grocery until 1940. In 1940 she married Myron Mineer and had 4 children: Anne, Mary Lynn, Rita and Lynn. In 1957, Trellis started work at the Super Valu store where she was s clerk and assistant manager. Trellis and Myron farmed in Winnebago Township on Infield Farms until Myron died in 1964 at the age of 49. In 1966 Trellis married Arlo Malherek and continued living on the farm until retirement. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling and eventually spend winter months in Mesa, Arizona. Arlo died in 1994 at the age of 86. Trellis moved from the farm to an apartment in Winnebago in 1997 then to Parker Oaks in 2009. She was a member of Basey EUB Church from 1917 until 1965 and then became a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago.
Trellis is survived by her children; Anne Christian of Winnebago, Rita (James) Loftness of Battle Lake, Minnesota, and Lynn (Donna) Mineer of Walker, MN. Trellis had 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Trellis was preceded in death by her parents; Carroll and Edna Franklin, husbands; Myron Mineer and Arlo Malherek, a half brother; John Franklin and infant daughter Mary Lynn Mineer.
