Mass of Christian Burial for William Martinson, 78, Winnebago, MN will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Winnebago at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago, from 5-7:00 pm. William Martinson, son of the late Genevieve Martinson and Bob Martinson died on December 24, 2016 at Blue Earth Hospital. He was born March 21, 1938 in Rochester, Minnesota. He attended Loyola high school. He served actively in the U.S. Marines from 1956 to 1959. He was united in holy matrimony in 1958 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church to Carole Rollings. They were married for 58 years. Bill lived a life of public service. He spent 27 years as a Police Officer in Mankato. He was also a detective on the Mankato PD and Child Abuse investigator for Blue Earth County. After he retired from the Mankato Police department he served as the Chief of Police for Amboy and Vernon Center for 15 years. His life will forever be remembered by his wife, Carole of Winnebago; his children: Jeffrey Scott Martinson of Amboy; Gregory Paul Martinson of Saint Paul, his wife Sandra and their children Megan and Sean; and a host of devoted friends.
