Mass of Christian Burial for John Bradley “Brad” Schoneck, 75, Mankato, MN will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Vernon Center, MN, Father Kern, Celebrant. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Brad died on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Mayo Health Systems-Mankato. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 4-7:00 pm at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago and one hour before the services in the church Friday.
John Bradley Schoneck was born on March 30, 1941 in Winnebago, MN to Delphan and Pearl (Meurer) Schoneck. He graduated from Amboy High School in 1959 and attended Mankato Vo-Tech for Mechanics. Brad joined the US Marine Corps Reserve in December of 1962 and served until December 1968. On February 10, 1964 he was united in marriage to Agnes Sonnek in Minnesota Lake. Brad worked for a garage in Fairmont and for his father at Schoneck Garage. He drove bus for Kenny Burton and later bought the buses. Brad owned and operated the Amboy Bus Service for over 35 years. He was a member of the Amboy Fire Department and the American Legion Post 276, Amboy. Brad enjoyed collecting toy buses, vehicles and John Wayne Memorabilia. He loved horses, donkeys and dogs.
Brad is survived by his sons, Gregg of Good Thunder, Brian (Pam) of Good Thunder, Jared (Sonya) of Amboy; grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Britney, Scott, Kyle, Paul, Hunter, McKenzie; special friend, Shirley Courrier; dog, Duke; brother and sister, Bob Schoneck, ElDonna (Keith) Eckhart, all of Tuscon, AZ; four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Aggie Schoneck; son, Steve Schoneck and a brother, Dennis Schoneck.
