Shirley Lien, retired Sears employee, was born July 10, 1917, in Delavan, Mn, the daughter of Oliver and Sena (Selberg) Lien. She was baptized and confirmed at the Delavan Lutheran Church and graduated from Delavan High School in 1934. IN 1942 she went to Seattle, WA where she worked at the White Center Drug Store and later at Todd Pacific Shipyard during WW II. In 1946 she came to Mankato and worked for Sears Roebuck for 36 years, retiring in 1982. She was a longtime member of Bethelehem Lutheran Church in Mankato, American Legion Auxiliary Unit II, Summit Senior Center, Prime Time Club and was a former member of the Mankato BPW. She enjoyed volunteer work, reading, walking, shopping and being with family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her niece, Sharon Kiehm of Elysian, her niece, Susan Sonnek of Delavan, her niece, Donna Lien Hicks of Delavan, her niece, Judy Parsons of Seattle, her niece, Kay McAvinew of Seattle, her nephew, Michael Lien of Willmar, her nephew, Jeff Parsons of Seattle, 11 great nieces & nephews and several great great nieces & nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Warren, Dick & Lloyd Lien, sister, Dorothy Parsons,2 sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
