Memorial services for Dorothy Wiederhoeft, 92, Mapleton, MN will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Amboy, MN with Rev. Rudy Maurer officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Amboy Cemetery. Dorothy died on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Mapleton Community Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the church. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago, MN, is handling the service.
Dorothy A. Ziemke was born on March 9, 1923 in rural Vernon Center, MN to Henry and Emma (Turner) Ziemke. She attended the Oliver Dist. 147 in rural Vernon Center through the eighth grade and graduated from Garden City High School, Garden City, MN. Dorothy met and married Orin Wiederhoeft in 1944 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Vernon Center, MN. She was a homemaker and worked for many years at the local grocery story in Amboy. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy and served on the ladies guild. Dorothy enjoyed and belonged to Mother’s Club for over 65 years. She loved entertaining for coffee and baking. She was well known for her donuts. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family. Her trip of a lifetime was to England with her 3 daughters.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Orin, Mapleton, MN; three daughters, Linda (Charles) Cone, Waseca, MN, Lola (Lynn) Owen, Atwater, MN, Carol (Mike) Bertrand, St. Peter, MN; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Evelyn Wilke, Geraldine Banwart Luedtke, Marvel Cooley, Dolores Wiederhoeft and one brother, Willard Ziemke.
