Francis “Fran” Greger, age 89, of Winnebago, died Wednesday October 28, 2015 at St Lukes in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago, with Rev. William Sabol officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church.
He was born May 25, 1926, in Easton, the son of Glen and Lydia (Ehrich) Greger. He attended Delavan High School until he was drafted into WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater.
On June 3, 1950 he married Dorothy Madsen at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago, and together raised two daughters on their farm east of Winnebago.
Fran farmed for 50 years and enjoyed reading, fishing, dancing with Dort, and traveling to his Army reunions across the United States. He was an active member at Our Saviors, and will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Dennis "Jake") Jacobson of Springfield, MO, Julie (Tim) Fie of Mounds View, MN; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Fran was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Dorothy; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
