HELEN MAE ROE, age 101, of Winnebago, died Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Truman Senior Living. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Basey Cemetery, Winnebago Township. Visitation time will be from 4:00pm 7:00pm Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago, and 1 hour before the service at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com Helen was born October 3, 1913, in Nashville Township, MN, the daughter of Stanley and Emma (Ritter) Holtz. She attended school in Winnebago and graduated from Winnebago High School. On March 3, 1933 she married Wilbur E. Roe together they had four children Barbara, Maurice, Linda, and Cheryl. Helen loved working in the flower garden, canning/freezing the produce she and Wilbur grew. She was a founding member of the Parker Oaks Auxiliary, and was very active with the church being involved with women’s association and Sunday school. She and Wilbur worked together as the church janitors for over 16 years. But most of all she enjoyed her family and friends; she just loved making people happy. She is survived by her son, Maury (Joyce) Roe of Winnebago, daughter, Linda (David) Graumann of Golden Valley, daughter, Cheryl (Richard) Goraczkowski of Amboy, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur, daughter Barbara Wagner, granddaughter Shelley Roe, sister Bonnie Classon, and son-in-law Al Wagner.
