DUANE JOHN FRANKLIN, age 78, of Winnebago, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 10:30 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Thomas Butler officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. He was born October 18, 1936, at Winnebago, the son of John Mildred (Gray) Franklin. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1954. On December 2, 1961 he married Opal Marie Groves at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago. He farmed in the Winnebago area for over 50 years until retiring at the age of 68.
Duane was very active in the church serving on many boards, as a Sunday School Teacher, served on the Winnebago Township Board, and served on the Faribault County Soil & Water Conservation Board.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Franklin of Winnebago, daughter, Judi (Timothy) Hynes of Winnebago, daughter, Janet (Will) Charlesworth of San Angelo, TX, son, David ( Amber) Franklin of Winnebago, son, Mark(Melinda) Franklin of Harrisburg, SD, grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, and Johnathon Hynes of Winnebago, grandson, William Charlesworth of San Angelo, TX, grandchildren, Morgan and Conor Franklin of Winnebago, sister, Shirley Rumsey of Wells, and 4 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
