LOIS HELEN HILL STARKER, age 83, of Rochester, died Thursday, November 27, 2014, at her daughter’s home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014, at 1:30 PM, at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Dana Olson officiating. Private family burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation time will be from 4:00PM- 7:00PM Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com Lois Helen Jenson was born March 31, 1931 to Herman & Gladys (Berglund) Jenson in Albert Lea, MN. After graduating from Albert Lea High School and Mankato State University, she moved to Winnebago, MN to teach third grade. Lois married Donald Hill on June 18, 1953. The couple farmed west of Winnebago where Lois was a homemaker. They were blessed with three children. Don suffered a stroke in 1983 and Lois was his caregiver for 11 years. He died September 1994. Lois was very active in the Winnebago First Baptist Church as well as the National American Baptist Women organization. She volunteered at Parker Oaks Nursing Home, Rainbow Acres, Verde Valley, AZ and the KJLY Prayerline. While volunteering at SIL-Wycliffe Bible Translators in Tucson, AZ Lois met and married Fred Starker from Byron, MN on August 4, 2007. They made their summer home in Rochester but continued to volunteer during winter months at SIL. Lois was active in Oasis Church and Channel One, Rochester and helped at Camp Victory near Zumbro Falls. Throughout her life, Lois grew in her love and faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ. He was the foundation that guided her throughout each decision that she made. Because of this love, she was a humble servant spreading His love and care to/for others. In January 2005, she received the national Morikawa Evangelism Award for significant leadership and evangelism within her church. Lois is survived by her husband, Fred Starker of Rochester; son Stephen (Lisa) Hill of Wells, daughters Ann Gronewald of Granada, Renae Hill of St. Louis Park; grandsons and granddaughters: Ross (Jessica) Gronewald of Granada, Rachel (Aaron) Jarvinen of Lakeville, Luke (Caitlin) Hill of Snohomish, WA and Sarah (Nick) Rossi of Salem, OR; seven great-grandchildren (Ainsley, Ingrid and Elin Gronewald; Brelyn and Harrison Jarvinen, Claire and AJ Rossi); Fred’s sons; Scott (Paula) Starker of Tucson, AZ, Paul Starker of Rochester; Granddaughter, Amanda Starker of Tucson, AZ; brother Phil (Nita) Jenson of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law Jackie Jenson of Clarks Grove, Marge Hill of Winnebago, Jan Hill of Argentina, Marlys Jarosz of Princeton, brother-in-law Ron (Sybil) Starker of Prattville, AL; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; son-in-law Scott Gronewald, sisters Carol Jenson, Marynona (& Clair) Brunkow; brother Ralph Jenson, sister-in-law Margaret Hill; brothers-in-law Robert Hill, Lewis (& Edie) Hill and Jim Hill. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Blue Earth Area Youth for Christ or Camp Victory.
