VALERIA MARGARET PALMER, age 87, of Winnebago, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Lutheran Church Of Our Savior in Winnebago, with Rev. William Sabol officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation time will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm Friday August 8, 2014, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago and 1 hour before the service at the church. She was born February 27, 1927, at Galena Township, MN, the daughter of Gustav and Margaret (Meyer) Kuehl. She was a graduate of Trimont High School in 1945. On June 26, 1945 she married James A. Palmer in Lincoln, NE. From this union they were blessed with four children Alan, Diana, Kathleen, and Karen. She was a long time member of Lutheran Church of our Savior in Winnebago. She volunteered in many groups over the years. She was involved in the Winnebago American Legion Auxiliary Club, Lutheran Women's Mission League, Lydia Circle, KJLY Radio, Meals on Wheels, Parker Oaks, and Red Hat Society. She entered the workforce in 1944 at the Stokely-Van Camp factory in Fairmont, MN. She also was employed at the Huntley Grocery Store in 1960's. She returned to Stokely's at Winnebago until they closed in May of 1979, she then went on to work at the Stokely factory in Fairmont until she retired. She enjoyed quilting, cross word puzzles, shopping and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Lois) Palmer of Redwood Falls, MN daughter, Diana (Larry) Hoppe of Trenton, MO, daughter Karen (Jim) Putnam of Winnebago, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James, daughter, Kathleen Ann Palmer, great-granddaughter, Erica Putnam, 3 brothers, and her parents.
