May 29, 2014 RICHARD DALE ZUMWALT RICHARD DALE ZUMWALT, age 85, of Winnebago, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Parkers Oaks in Winnebago. Private family services will be in Vernon Center Cemetery at a later date. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home of Winnebago is in charge of the arrangements. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com He was born January 28, 1929, at Mapleton, MN, the son of Harold and Edith (Wendt) Zumwalt. Richard served in the United States Navy from February 1948 to January 1950 serving also in the United States Air Force from February 1952 to February 1956. He received honorable discharges from both branches of the military. He was employed by Poly Plastics, Mankato Plating, Johnson Reel, Ramy Seed, and Tony Downs before retiring. Richard enjoyed fishing, gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels. He took pride in working on the family genealogy. He was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou Keltgen of Mankato, sister, Donna Scholtz of Kasota, brother, Gene (MaryJo) Zumwalt of Columbia Heights, his sister, Judy (Darrell) Lange of Winnebago, brother, Thomas Zumwalt of Winnebago, sister, Sandra (Dean) Flemming of Sawyer, ND, sister, Penny (Robert) Moore of Kenner, LA, sister in law, Patricia Zumwalt of St James. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Jerry, Dean, and Donald, infant sister, Shirley, 2 brother-in-laws Gerald Keltgen and George Scholtz.
