Norton M. Sorenson, age 90, of Mankato, formerly of Amboy, died Friday, May 23, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM, at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church in Amboy, with Rev. Todd Substad officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Jackson Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Amboy. Norton was born December 13, 1923, in Amboy, the son of Victor and Florence (Madson) Sorenson. Norton was born and raised in Amboy where he graduated from Amboy High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was married to Lucille Boeck on April 24, 1955. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as Postmaster and rural mail carrier in Amboy.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and spending time with their children, Sharon Peck, Diane Erickson, Michael Sorenson and four grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of Jackson Lake Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed and served on a variety of church committees. He was active in Boy Scouts, Sportsmen's Club, Lion's and did volunteer driving for VINE. Retirement winters were spent in Arizona, Florida and Texas.
Norton is survived by, his wife, Lucille, daughter, Sharon (Mark) Peck of Apple Valley, daughter, Diane (Don) Erickson of Bel Air, MD, son, Michael Sorenson of Mankato, grandchildren: Chelsea (Patrick) Bradshaw, Kait (Nate) Ryan, Chad (Lauren) Erickson, Cody Peck, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Florence Sorenson and brother, Clare Sorenson.
