RAYMOND G EHLERS, age 82, of Winnebago, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at St Lukes Care Center in Blue Earth. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Parker Oaks Dikker Hall in Winnebago, with Rev. Durene Cornell officiating. Raymond Gene Ehlers was born August 24, 1931 in Fairmont, MN to Ira Clifford & Lucile Edna (Personius) Ehlers. He was raised in the Fairmont and Winnebago area, helping his father farming and raising horses. He married Betty Anne Winch on July 31, 1950 at the Baptist Parsonage in Winnebago. He worked for Leon Oliver as a farm hand from 1948 to 1958, the City of Winnebago Water Department from 1966 to 1976, Electro Craft from 1979 until its closing in 1986, and Crown Fixtures up until his stroke in 1989 when he retired. During his retirement he worked part-time for the Fairmont Sentinel. Raymond loved to talk and share his stories about his farming life. He loved taking his family camping and fishing. He loved the outdoors and for a brief period owned his own landscaping business.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Kay (Brian) Louks of Owatonna, MN, daughter Jan Marie (William) Reineking of Winnebago, MN, son, Jerry Dean (Dot) Ehlers of Wendell, NC, sister, Ruth McGowan of Fairmont, MN, sister Marilyn Ivers of Cherry Hill, NJ, sister, Eunice Stefanski of Fairmont, MN, brother, Robert Ehlers of Bay Port, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, son, Jeffrey, brother, Roger, great granddaughter, one niece, and two nephews.
