ARLENE M WINCH, age 85, of Winnebago, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 10:00 AM, at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation time will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm Friday, March 28, 2014, at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago, and 1 hour before the service at the church. She was born February 21, 1929, in Rural Bancroft, IA, the daughter of Henry & Anna (Stroebel) Janssen. She moved with her family to Grant Township in 1943 and lived there until she graduated from Grant Consolidated School in 1946. After high school she went on to Beauty School in Fairmont, MN. She married Chester Winch on May 7, 1950 in Ledyard, IA. Together they lived in Winnebago, MN, moving to the family farm west of Winnebago in 1974.
She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church, loved shopping, cooking, baking, auctions, gardening, working at the Next to New, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Arlys (Michael) Jorgensen of Ankeny, IA, son, Tom (Debby McMullen Fiancé) Winch of Winnebago, son, Ron (Lucinda) Winch of Fairfax, MN brother George Janssen, sister, Joyce Anderson, 4 grandchildren, Amanda Braun, Justin Winch, Josh Jorgensen, Malinda Jorgensen, and 2 great grandchildren Casey Braun, Julianna Braun.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester in 1985, parents, sister Patricia Mino, and brother Jim Johnson.
