Harlan J. Schneeberger, age 87, of Mapleton, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amboy, with Rev. Rudolph Maurer officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Harlan was born March 18, 1926, at Pleasant Mound Township, Amboy, MN, the son of Harry and Betsy (Haugen) Schneeberger. He grew up in the Amboy area where he atteneded school. He helped his family farm for several years before entering the U.S. Army in 1951, where he served in Korea. He returned home in 1953 and soon began working for Kranz Implement. In about 1960 he started working as a mechanic for Interline Chrysler Plymouth in Blue Earth. In 1966 he became a machinist with Roberts Machining in Bloomington, MN. He worked there over 30 years, retiring in 1997. Harlan was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins were, following his retirement, he volunteered much of his time cleaning the church and helping print bibles in brail. He also volunteered at the Bethesda Recycle shops, helping restore donated items to working order. Harlan loved to ice skate, snow ski, roller skate and attended aircraft shows whenever he could.
Harlan is survived by his sister, Virgeen (Robert) Sears of Rohnert Park, CA., his brothers, Orvin Schneeberger of Mapleton and Warren (Joyce) Schneeberger of East Gull Lake, MN, and six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Genevieve Boeck.
