Mr. JAMES B. DIGMAN, age 85, of Friendship Court, Blue Earth, formerly of Winnebago died Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at United Hospital, Blue Earth.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Durene Cornell officiating. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery, Truman. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Spencer Owen Funeral Home of Winnebago is assisting the family with the arrangements. James was born September 11, 1927, in Winnebago, the son of Philip and Susie (Ballard) Digman. He was raised in Winnebago where he attended high school. After high school he entered the U.S. Army Air Force where he was a signal corpsman. He returned from service in December 1946 and was later married to Myrtle Winch on August 4, 1947. James worked as a signal maintainer for the Milwaukee Road for 45 years, living mainly in Selby, SD and Mason City, Iowa. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church, was a Mason, Boy Scout leader, Pheasant Hunting Guide, Volunteer Fireman and member of Ambulance crew while in Selby, SD. The couple retired to Winnebago in 1980. James loved playing cards, pheasant hunting in South Dakota, gardening and being with family.
James is survived by his sons, Steven Digman of Minneapolis and Jack (Deborah) Digman of Rosemount, MN, his brothers in law, Paul (Rosemary) Winch of Rice, Bill (Pat) Winch of Arizona, four grandchildren , three great grandchildren and longtime family friend Jan Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Myrtle in 2011, son, Larry, two brothers-Milo & Ronnie Digman and three sisters: Edna Larson, Marcella Howe and Margaret Acord.
