Agnes J. Patterson, age 95, of Delavan, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 10:30 AM, at the First United Methodist Church in Winnebago with Rev. Janet Crissinger-Clark officiating. Burial will be in Rice Lake Cemetery, Delavan, MN. Visitation time will be one hour before services at the church. Agnes was born February 19, 1918, in Kamrar,Iowa,the daughter of Hiko and Epka J. (Klooster) Karels. She grew up in Kamrar and attended schools in Algona, Iowa. She was married to George W. Patterson on April 2, 1938 in Kossuth Co., Iowa. The couple lived and worked on the Willette Seed Farm for several years before moving into Delavan in 1952. Agnes was a homemaker and had worked at the Scheid Grocery store and then for the Delavan Municiple Liquor Store for 30 years. She was a scout leader for several years and was a 50 year plus memember of the United Methodist Church Delavan, where she was active in the Auxiliary and Ladies Aide. Agnes also enjoyed crotcheing, gardening and doing crafts.
Agnes is survived by her son, Dale (Susie) Patterson of Dassel, her son, Edward (Janet) Patterson of Delavan, her son, Phillip Patterson of Delavan, her brother, John (Merna) Karels of Winnebago, her grandchildren, Gregory Patterson & Shammarie Cummines, a grandson-in-law, David Schuster, three great grandchildren: Sheryl, Tammy & Andrew Cummines, several nieces, nephews and cousins and one very special friend and caregiver, Shelly Theobald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-George in 1980, brothers: Karl, Henry, Benard, Andrew & Richard Karels, a sister, Annette Johnson, a grandson, Michael Patterson and a granddaughter, Kathleen Schuster.
