Dale Alan Lloyd

Dale Lloyd, age 78, of Winnebago, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Mankato. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Gary Branam officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery, Vernon Center, MN. Visitation time will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com Dale was born January 19, 1935 in Amboy, MN the son of Ralph J. and Ima P. (Buckminster) Lloyd. He was raised and educated in Amboy where he was a 1953 graduate of Amboy High School. He soon entered the U.S. Navy and later returned to the Amboy area. He worked for Pride Seed Corn and Fuller Construction of Amboy before re-enlising in the Navy. He was a career Navel man serving on submarines and aircraft carriers for several years while earning the rank of Master Chief, the highest rank for enlisted sailors. He was also electrical and nuclear power trained. During his service he was married to Jackie Beck on June 29, 1961 in Winnebago. Two children were born prior to Dale’s retirement from service in 1976. He returned to Winnebago where he worked for Stokely-Vankamps, later known as Pic Sweet and United Foods, in Fairmont as an electrician for several years. He also worked for Cuddy Energy before his retirment in the late 1990’s. He was instrumental in helping his son with his business, Lloyd Electric. Dale enjoyed his large vegetable garden, hunting for morel mushrooms, his dailey visits to Kwik Trip, deer hunting and watching his grandson’s baseball games and granddaughter’s softball games whenever he could. His grandkids ment the world to him and he will be greatly missed. Dale is survived by his wife, Jackie Lloyd of Winnebago, his son, Charlie (Becky) Lloyd of Mapleton, his daughter, Sharron (Alan) Christian of Mapleton, grandchildren: Mitchell, Logan, Carly Lloyd, Malachi (Abby)Dahms, Emili, Bailie, Rachel & Sophie Christian and great grandchildren, Hattie & Noah. He is also survived by his brother, Arlo (Katie) Lloyd of Alexandria, VA., his brother, Dean (Nancy) Lloyd of Elmore, his brother, Owen (Bev) Lloyd of Delavan, his sister, Aletha Zachariah of Mankato, his sister, Jessica (Lenny) Kijenski of Hugo, his sister, Shirley DeAngelo of Warminster, PA, his brother, John Lloyd of Amboy, his brother, Arlan (Dawn) Lloyd of Gruver, Texas, his sister, Linda (Bob) Nesbit of Thunderbay, Canada, his brother, Jerry Lloyd of Hammond, WI and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Nyla Sauter & Lois Hartman and brothers, James, Joe & Tom Lloyd.
