Dorothy M. Swanson, age 88, of Winnebago, died Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago, with Rev. Robert Bailey officiating. Dorothy was born November 21, 1923, in Winnebago, the daughter of Henry P. and Pearl (Nichols) Nilson. She was a 1941 graduate of Huntley High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. She was married to Donald W. Swanson on June 6, 1946 in Mankato. Dorothy worked in the accounting dept. of the Bank of Commerce in Mankato. In the early 1950’s the couple moved to Bloomington where Dorothy worked at the Richfield Bank and later for over 20 years at the Community State Bank of Bloomington in the accounting department. Donald died in 1987 and Dorothy retired in the early 1980’s and eventually moved home to Winnebago in 2005. Dorothy’s favorite thing was spending time with her dear family.
Dorothy M. Swanson is survived by her daughter, Karen Swanson of Prior Lake, her daughter, Sandra Swanson of Winnebago, her sister, Jane (Jerry) Poole of Winnebago, her sister in law, Mary Ellen Nilson of Fonda, Iowa, numerous nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1987 and brothers Gene and Chuck Nilson.
