Candelario G. "Cande" Lopez, age 58, of Winnebago, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at United Hospital in Blue Earth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winnebago, with Father Leo Koppala officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Candelario was born April 1, 1954, at Lubbock, TX, the son of Geronimo and Ynocencia (Garcia) Lopez. He was raised and educated in Ft. Morgan, Colorado where he was a farm hand, worked as a mechanic at the school bus garage and was a drummer in a Tex Mex band.
He was married to Esther K. Celestino on January 21, 1973 in Brush, Colorado. In 1991 the couple moved to Winnebago where Cande worked for Kerry Manufacturing in Blue Earth. He attended South Central Tech in Mankato graduating from Culinary Arts School. He was a chef at the Holiay Inn in Mankato and at Rosie’s Diner in Blue Earth. He later worked as a butcher at Blue Earth Locker.
Candelario G. "Cande" Lopez is survived by his wife, Esther Lopez of Winnebago, his son, Jerome (Elizabeth) Lopez of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, his daughter, April Lopez (David Enriquez) of Blue Earth, his daughter, Manuela Lopez (D.J. Otto) of Blue Earth, his daughter, Candice Lopez of Winnebago, his sisters: Maria Barraza, Fances Rodriquez, Margaret Montoya, Ramona Salazar, Josie Lopez-Rodriquez, Andrea Lopez, brothers: Julian Acosta, Geronimo Lopez, Jr., Jesse Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez, Ramon Lopez, Isidro Lopez and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and one grandson.
