MARTIN L. IGNASZEWSKI, age 88, of Winnebago, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at St. Lukes Care Center in Blue Earth. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at 1:30 PM, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, with Rev. Durene Cornell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Winnebago, MN. Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago and one hour prior to services. Martin was born November 5, 1923, at Stephan, MN, the son of Lawrence & Veronica (Kulla) Ignaszewski. He was raised in the Easton area where he attended schools. As a young man he helped farm his family’s farm and was a farm hand for many area farmers through the years. He hauled concrete aggregate by truck to Mankato for a time and also worked at the rendering plant in Blue Earth for several years, retiring in the late 1980’s. He was married to Eileen Skogan who died in 1962. He was later married to Avis M. Murphey on September 22, 1984 in Blue Earth. Avis died in 2007. Martin enjoyed fishing and watching TV programs – his favorites were Wheel of Fortune and Walker Texas Ranger.
MARTIN is survived by his step daughter, Mary (Robert) Ahl of Winnebago, his step son, Robert (Gayle) Soma of Madelia, his step son, Larry (Cynthia) Soma of Mankato, five step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, brother-Louis Ignaszewski, sister-Florence Hicks and an infant sister.
