She was born June 17, 1940, at Fairmont, MN, the daughter of Russell & Beatrice (Loft) Wheeler. She graduated from Winnebago High school in 1958. She married Vic Blomgren on December 31, 1960 at her parent’s home in Winnebago. Janet was employed at Stokely Van Camp, First National Bank in Winnebago, and the Winnebago Enterprise. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnebago, member of the national, state, and county Cattlemen’s Association, national and state Hereford Association. Mr. and Mrs. Blomgren were named Faribault County’s Farm Family pf the Year in 2000.
Janet was happiest when outside baling hay with Vic, walking beans with Marie, mowing the lawn while watching her beloved Hereford calves run and play on a bright sunny day. She was trained by the Minnesota Extension Service in 1980’s as a peer listener. She continued as a great listener for the rest of her life.
She is survived by her husband Vic of 51 years, sister Marsha (Richard) Enger of Winnebago, two nephews Todd (Angela) Enger of Winnebago, Mike Enger of Fort Collins, CO, two great nephews Dayton and Logan Enger, great niece Madison Enger all of Winnebago, her sister-in-heart cousin Barbara Jo Huisingh. She and Vic were blessed with the friendship of their family, friends, and neighbors as they have remained her “Kids” and they have been with her in her cancer struggle. Janet’s furry friends the cats and cows who have shared her life will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts, uncles, and mother-in-law.
