Dorothy M. Maine, age 81, of Amboy, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 1:30 PM, at First Baptist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Tom Butler officiating. Burial will be in Basey Methodist Cemetery rural Winnebago. Dorothy was born March 21, 1930, at Odin, MN, the daughter of George and Louise (Weidenbach) Cordes. Dorothy was a lifetime rural Amboy resident and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1948. She was married to Vincent Maine on August 14, 1949 in Fairmont, MN. The couple farmed in rural Amboy for many years until Dorothy became a resident of Parker Oaks in Decemeber of 2010. She was an active member of Basey United Methodist Church where she played the piano for over 50 years and served as treasurer of the Basey United Methodist Women. She was most recently a member of First Baptist Church in Winnebago. She was an active farm wife-helping with field work and harvests. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking; her fudge was famous. Vincent and Dorothy loved to travel but her main joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Vincent Maine of Amboy, her daughter, Karen (Bruce) Stanton of Mapleton, her son, Doug Maine of Amboy, her daughter, Kathy (Chuck) Dressen of Winnebago, her brother, Howard (Betty) Cordes of Bemidji, her brother, Elvin Cordes of Fairmont, her brother, Bob (Ruth) Cordes of Grove City, her sister, Norma (Don) Cole of Brownton, her grandchildren: Liz (Ryan) Bair of Mapleton, Anne (Cody) Voges of Lake Crystal, Tyler (Heather) Dressen of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Kelsey (Lee) Hodges of Amboy, Rebecca Stanton (special friend Tyler Dreyer) of Inver Grove Heights, and great grandchildren: Alec, Carter, Annalivia & Brody Bair and Avery, Ella & Addison Voges.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, August Cordes.
