Charles H. "Chuck" Nilson, age 84, of Delavan, formerly of rural Winnebago, died Monday, August 15, 2011, at the United Hospital in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011, at 1:30p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Michael Roys officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Winnebago, MN. Visitation time will be from 4-7p.m. , Thursday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. He was born March 7, 1927, in Verona Township, Faribault County , the son of Henry & Pearl(Nichols)Nilson. He was a graduate of Huntley High School and participated in Golden Gloves boxing at Easton. On June 25, 1952 he married Cheryl Scholl at Winnebago. She preceded him in death in 2001. On Sept. 26, 2009 he married Delores Walker at Winnebago. Chuck was a lifelong farmer, drove school bus at Huntley, and was involved in school activities. After retiring from farming he worked at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Men’s Club, Minnesota Soybean Growers Assn., Verona Farmer’s Club, and enjoyed dancing. .
Chuck is survived by his wife, Delores Nilson of Delavan, his daughters, Merodee(Jim)Grannis of Derby, Kansas Margo(Arv)Harris of Fairmont, five grandchildren, Heather,Heidi, & Holly Grannis, Shanon & Josh(Tracy)Langlie, two great grandchildren, sisters, Dorothy Swanson of Winnebago, Jane(Jerry)Poole of Winnebago, brother in law, Larry(Marianne)Scholl of Winnebago, sister in law, Mary Ellen Nilson of Breda, Iowa. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother(Gene).
