Mildred Elizabeth Nagel, age 94, of Mankato, formerly of Delavan, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, with Father Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Delavan. Visitation time will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, with a prayer service at 7:45 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com Mildred Elizabeth Nagel was born December 4, 1916, to George and Kathryn (Rohe) Millman in Fairmont, MN, the eldest of eight children. At the age of nine she moved with her parents to a farm near Delavan. She attended Delvan grade and high school, graduating in 1935. She worked at the Delavan Café until her marriage to George O. Rothe on August 4, 1939 in Easton. To this union seven daughters were born. Her husband, George, passed away on October 5, 1977. She married Raymond F. Nagel on December 16, 1983. After their marriage they traveled, each year spending five months during the winter at their home in Mesa, Arizona. Mr. Nagel passed away in Arizona on June 2, 1995. Mildred moved to North Mankato in January of 2005. Mildred was a longtime member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Delavan, a member of the Rosary Society, a longtime member of the Degree of Honor, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Delavan Book and Study Club, the Bible Study Discussion Group and was a charter member of the Delavan Flower and Garden Club. She had worked at Stokely Canning Factory and at the Baptist Home (Parker Oaks) for many years. She has been a voluteer at the library in Delavan. She leaves to mourn her six daughters: Shirley (Edward) Porter of Burnsville, Mary Rhodes of Timonium, Maryland, Jan(fiance Lon Hyland) of Blue Earth, Jo (Ken) Behounek of Dodge Center, Barb Laven of North Mankato, Vicki (fiance Todd Martin) of Blue Earth, her son in law, James Baker of Fairmont, 18 grandchildren: Debbie Porter (Paul Lubeley), Julie Porter, Allison Porter (Brian Champlin), Michael Baker (Kathy), Rhonda Gies (Todd), James W. Baker, Jason Baker, Holly Smedley (Troy), Matthew Munz, Tony Munz, Eric Munz (Lori Hartnagle), Lindsay Behounek (Jesse), Chris Johnson (Stephanie Spong), Ryan Johnson (Christy), Jeremy Johnson (Keri), Christy Freeberg (John), Dan Braunshausen (Robin), step-grandson, Matt Johnson, 23 great grandchildren: Kelsey, Mark and John Jara, Danielle, Joshua, Brooke and Taylor Gies, April Baker-Bouchey (James), Cody Baker, Austin Fields, Mikayla & Zachary Smedley, Carleigh & Isabella Munz, Ella Johnson, Chloe Johnson, Makenna Johnson, Allen and Dylan Wiltse, Devyn, Dru, Ethan and Lokan Braunshausen. Also surviving are one great great grandchild, Bethany Mae Wolschlager, a step-son, two step-daughters, several step grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, two sisters, Florence Hassing of Fairmont, & Clareen Workman of Long Beach, California and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters- Doris Brady & Dallas Hassing, brothers: Don, Howard and Pat Millman, daughter, Dorothy Baker, grandson, Joshua Johnson, sons-in-law Bruce Rhodes & Dave Laven and great grandson, Michael Baker, Jr.
