WILMA T. SEETIN, age 93, of Winnebago, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Parker Oaks Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 121 1st Ave. SE, Winnebago. Rev. Ronald Jobe will be officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 1, from 3-6:00 p.m. at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave. SE, Winnebago; and also one hour prior to the Funeral at the church. WILMA was born April 18, 1918, in Rushmore, MN, the daughter of Wilber and Frauke (Groninga) Ebeling. She was born the 8th child, during a historical flu epidemic, her mother died just days after her birth. Wilma was baptized over her mother’s casket and taken to be raised by her aunt, in the Gardas family. She grew up in Sibley, IA, and married Alvin Arnold Seetin there in 1941. When Alvin returned from WWII, they farmed near Sibley and moved to Harris, IA in 1947. In 1950, they bought their first farm near Huntley where Wilma lived until the present and raised her children. Wilma and Alvin had Black Angus cattle on the farm, Wilma had lovely large gardens, and she managed the farm after Alvin passed in 1996.
WILMA is survived by her children; Vaunda (Gary) Noerenberg, of Atlanta, GA, George (Jan) Seetin of Mercer Island, WA, Verla (John) Neslund, of Atlanta, GA, Mark (Liz) Seetin, of Alexandria, VA, Nina (Sam) Patten, of Winnebago, MN, and Kent Seetin, of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Ingrid, Mia, Lukas, Addie, Erika, Zachary, Nicholas, Matthew, Daniel, Calvin, Sarah, Mary, and Tressa, 8 great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Daisy Ebeling, of Worthington, MN and many nieces and nephews.
WILMA was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin, her grand daughter Susan, 7 sisters, 4 brothers, and George and Nina Gardas who raised her.
